Chappellet Mountain Cuvée 2015
The last of the wines from our Nightingale evening is the Chappellet Mountain Cuvée 2015. A Bordeaux style with almost equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with 29% Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
A beautiful dark plum purple in the glass, this full bodied blend had vibrant black fruit aromas - black cherry. blueberry, violets and chocolate. The velvety texture and robust body gave weight to the flavours of raspberry, black cherry, blueberry, juicy black plum, dark chocolate, sassafras and tobacco leaf. Dry with sweet fruit flavours, the acidity and tannins integrated seamlessly after decanting. A lovely balanced Napa blend.
hard to put a finger on which dish it went best with but I must almost that the roasted Brussels sprouts with furikake and sesame dressing had a savouriness that contrasted well with the sweet fruit in the wine. Of course the steak with wild mushroom vinaigrette and porcini butter played beautifully as well.
Cheers!
