Clos du Soleil Capella 2019

A Bordeaux style white blend out of the aimilkameen was gifted to me to taste. This Capella blend from Clos du Soleil is 83% Sauvignon Blanc from the Similkameen Valley and 17% from the South Okanagan. It really rings true to an old word style Bordeaux white.

Crystal clear, lemon yellow in the glass with a nose ripe with citrus, lemon, white grapefruit and lime and notes of almond croissant. The nuttiness is from the sur lie aging and it also adds a nice weight to the mouthfeel which was soft and full. The citrus line carried through on the palate, with Granny Smith apple, gooseberry, light pastry notes, classic Similkameen minerality and acidity that keeps the wine alive in your mouth long after it’s gone. Medium bodied and dry, this is a food friendly wine.

As for food pairings with this Capella, I would suggest linguine vongole, with lemon and garlic. Or beef carpaccio with arugula and Parmesan. Now I’m hungry…

Cheers!
