Mud House Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Time Waits For No One Monastrell

Mud House Sauvignon Blanc 2021

The Mud House Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough is a consistent choice if you're looking for that style of wine.

Pale lemon yellow, the nose starts with white grapefruit, lime zest, guava, grass and bell pepper. It's dry, medium bodied, with medium/medium+ alcohol, showing the ripeness of the fruit. The dominant flavours are grapefruit, lime, melon, pineapple and bell pepper, with a slight slate-like edge on the finish.

Did you know that the chemical compound that creates that green pepper flavours in wine is called pyrazine? It is actually responsible for many of the green, vegetal or herbal flavours in wine.

Pyrazines are found in many of the Bordeaux varietals but are very high in Sauvignon Blanc, specifically from Marlborough. This is because of the high UV exposure, which accentuates those flavours. So if you love a "green" wine, this is the region for you!

I love pairing Sauvignon blanc with sushi or big salads with goat cheese.
