Take It To The Grave Rosé 2019
Everything Wine: $19.99
Barossa Valley, South Australia... the first thing that comes to mind is Shiraz. Big, bold Shiraz. But Barossa encompasses much more than that. GSM blends (French: Grenache, Syrah, Mourdvedre, Aussie: Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro) are quite popular and high quality. Something I think I'd like to explore more being that I'm a big fan of Rhone reds... also GSM blends.
This rosé is 65% Grenache, 25% Shiraz and 10% Mataro. Pale and salmon coloured, this wine almost takes on a peach colour. The nose is fruit forward: strawberry and red currant with undertones of white floral notes. Grenache is often full of red fruits and that shows on the palette. Dry, with grapefruit, strawberry, rhubarb and red currant. The acidity is pleasant and keeps you going back for more.
I would suggest pairing something like a Seafood Salad... Crab and grapefruit salad specifically. Mmm... now it's on my list.
